Ever wondered why they're called Apple Mac books. It's because of the Macintosh operating system in them of course. So What makes Macintosh stand out from the usual Windows? Well in this article I will review the operating system, and hopefully clear any misconceptions on the Macintosh O/S and Apple computers .
Apple company since it's foundation in the late 1970's. Obviously needed a operating systems or O/S to run its new personal computers. Thus started the development of the Mac operating system.
So what personality this new operating system should have to run personal computers at that time?
It must :
- Be User Friendly
- Have High Security
- Have Small Hardware Requirements
It has still kept these three points at mind and has vastly expanded its popularity by these points alone.
Taking one point at a time I will show why.
- User friendly -
Apple Inc still keeps this to mind to this day; and Macintosh O/S is one of the most userfriendly O/S's out there. What separates it from Microsofts's Windows is even tho Macintosh is a GUI O/S it doesn't use graphics in excess unlike the newer Microsoft Windows such as Windows Vistas and Windows 7.
This makes it some what non user-friendly as one can get lost in the Icon's and Menus. Not to mention the Graphics system take large chunk out of the computers hardware processors and graphic memory. As was showed by Windows Vista.
Apple Inc's Macintosh O/S keeps it user friendly while minimizing the load on the hardware.
- High Security-
How does Apple Inc's Macintosh maintain high security unlike Microsoft's Windows?
First of all it is an open source software like Linux Red hat O/S another high security O/S This means that the source code of the O/S is given to the user upon installation and the user may modify it to suit their needs. This makes trouble shooting/repairing very easy and the development of a virus for the O/S very difficult. As each computer's O/S has a different source code.. Unlike Windows a Closed source which doesn't enable the user to do great modifications to their O/S and the source code remains relatively the same in computers make them susceptible to attack.
Thus Apple Macintosh computers are rarely infected and rarely needs to rely on third party anti virus guard software's.
- Having Small Hardware Requirements.
As stated above the graphics user interface is highly simplified to reduce the load on the hardware. Also the coding and the development of the O/S has been made to make it a fast and efficient O/S.
This reduced load leaves the rest of the hardware specifications to be used by the user.
Conclusion
Thus I hope after having read this article on the three main points that Macintosh has been founded upon; you will realize the benefits of the Macintosh operating system and get yourselves a computer with one of them.
